A Hornet's Capture
Bloggin' It All The Way
For the last two weeks I have been trying to get up the courage to knock down a hornets nest that is being build above my front door. Yesterday, I had a friend knock it down with a broom (because clearly, I never would have). They were quite angry, but have since started to rebuild. A little while ago, I was sitting on my bed and looked up and saw a hornet on my curtain!!! I debated for quite a while about what to do and finally decided to get it to fly off the curtain and land somewhere else where I could spray it with either cooking oil or hairspray (owning bug spray would have made my life so much easier!) The little fella just kept landing back on the curtains! So I finally decided to put tape on the back of the dust pan and used the broom to try and get it stuck to the tape....Eventually it ended up between the miniblinds and the window. I sprayed it with hairspray and it slowed down and I finally just pushed the dust pan onto the window pinning the bug between the tape/dust pan and the window. I went outside to check that it was really trapped and decided to take pictures of my window because it looks pretty funny. If I ever figure out how to put up pictures here, I'll post it. It's still there because I want to make sure it's dead before I move it.
I am trying to recuperate from my "work-out" so I can study...I have an exam tommorrow. Wish me luck! Later. :)

You just painted the exact picture of me and my family about a month ago. Hornets built a nest in our french doors, on the inside, so when I opened the doors for awhile to let in some fresh air, I also let in four hornets. I sprayed down the nest twice and they are finally gone. I think. But soon discovered the mother of all nest in the same set of doors just last week.
